NYPD officer stabbed in the neck, Muslim terrorist neutralized in possible ISIS-inspired terror attack
A Police officer was ambushed by a Muslim terrorist who walked up behind him and stabbed him in the neck in Brooklyn Wednesday night. The officer and the terrorist then struggled for the weapon, which went off striking one officer in the hand and another in the arm.
The stabbing attack happened around 11:45 p.m. when an officer on an anti-looting patrol radioed for help on Flatbush and Church streets.
The terrorist was hit eight times and remains hospitalized in critical condition.
He has been identified as Dzenan Camovic, a 20-year-old Bosnian Muslim. The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating his background, sources said, and whether he is linked to ISIS or other terror groups.
“What we know at this point and time is that it appears to be a completely, cowardly, despicable, unprovoked attack on a defenseless police officer and thank God we aren’t planning a funeral right now,” Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said.
