Jerusalem: Suspected terrorist shot and killed during chase

BREAKING: Border Police shot and killed a 32-year-old Muslim resident of the Arab neighborhood of Wadi al-Joz in Jerusalem, during a chase near Lion’s Gate in the Old City.

According to the initial investigation, the suspect was holding a suspicious object that looked like a gun. He fled after the forces told him to stop. Another group of Border Police officers heard the call and joined the chase, killing the suspect.

A police spokesman did not immediately respond when asked whether the suspect was in fact carrying a gun.

Hamas, the Mujahideen and other terror groups and Muslim factions in Gaza and Judea-Samaria threatened to carry out terror attacks in response to the killing of the suspect, who they say had special needs.

Yesterday, a Muslim terrorist was shot and eliminated after attempting to ram IDF soldiers near the Jewish community of Halamish in Samaria.

In a recent briefing to senior IDF officers, Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi said he was issuing an alert to IDF commanders regarding a possible escalation in Judea and Samaria amid Israel’s plans to apply sovereignty over Jewish communities of Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley.

So far, the IDF has not sent reinforcements to Judea and Samaria, despite a rise in the number of terror attacks in the last two weeks.
