Israel’s coronavirus death toll rises to 140 – 12,591 infected, 174 in serious condition

The number of coronavirus infections in Israel has risen to 12,591 with 140 fatalities and 174 people in serious condition, including 140 patients on ventilators.

2,624 people have recovered from the coronavirus.

The cabinet will convene on Thursday to discuss the government’s plan for an exit strategy from the coronavirus enforced restrictions.

The Health Ministry believes that returning to work and daily life can be done only when the country sees 30 to 50 new patients per day, while the Finance Ministry argues that the economy cannot take much more of the current restrictions.

“We don’t like the term ‘exit strategy’ but rather ‘routine under coronavirus’,” Health Ministry Director-General Moshe Bar Siman-Tov said. “Because coronavirus is here. It’s not leaving us… We’ll have to take measured steps, see that things are under control and if they stay that way, go a little bit further every time.”
