9,968 Israelis infected with coronavirus, 80 fatalities, 166 in serious condition
The number of coronavirus infections in Israel has risen to 9,968 as of Thursday evening, with 80 fatalities, 166 people in serious condition, including 121 patients on ventilators.
The government approved additional emergency restrictions on Tuesday in order to reduce the spread of the coronavirus in Israel during the Passover period.
Until April 12, there will be no public transportation, only cabs. Israelis cannot travel more than 100 meters from home, including to walk their dogs.
Health Ministry Director-General Moshe Bar Siman-Tov called for the strict lockdown to be extended until the end of the holiday next week over fears that many people ignored the regulations and have left their homes during Passover.
