Israel acquires millions of masks, protective suits and respirators from China

BREAKING – Cleared for publication: In a joint operation between the Foreign and Defense Ministries, the embassy in Beijing, El Al, Israel Chemicals and a private chemical company, Israel will bring 11 planes with essential medical supplies including millions of masks, protective suits and respirators from China.

Eleven airplanes containing millions of face masks, respirators and protective clothing urgently needed in the battle against the coronavirus will arrive in Israel from China in the coming days.

The first plane carrying 900,000 surgical masks, half a million protective suits and other medical gear will arrive Monday morning.

Last week, the Mossad -Israel’s National Intelligence Agency-, Ministry of Health, PMO, Ministry of Defense and the IDF, managed to obtain 27 ventilators and 8 million masks arrived in Israel to help fight the coronavirus outbreak amid worldwide shortages. It was the third such shipment by the Mossad over the past month.

Earlier this week, the Defense Ministry, state-owned Israel Aerospace Industries and Invoytec medical company had converted a missile factory to produce ventilators.

The number of coronavirus infections in Israel has risen to 8,430 as of Sunday evening, with 49 fatalities, 139 people in serious condition, including 106 patients on ventilators, and the vast majority of cases in light condition.

182 people remain in moderate condition and another 7,515 people are in light condition.

546 people have made a full recovery.
