Soroka Hospital in Beer Sheva said that a 93-year-old man was brought to the hospital from the nursing home where he lived. He suffered from several pre-existing conditions.
A 76-year-old woman died at Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva.
“We are in a situation where the number of sick is doubling every three days,” said Health Ministry Director-General Moshe Bar Siman Tov on Thursday. He estimated that within a week, the country will have about 200 severely ill patients.
Israel’s government approved new emergency regulations to limit activity in order to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
The new guidelines are enforceable by police, include a near-total cessation of public transportation and a restriction on venturing further than 100 meters (roughly 300 feet) from one’s house except for the supply of food, medicine, essentials or medical reasons.
