The Health Ministry announced that three coronavirus patients have died, bringing Israel’s death toll to eight. The number of Israelis infected has increased to 2,666, with 39 people in serious condition.

A 91-year-old woman was the sixth Israeli to die from the coronavirus after being admitted to Wolfson Medical Center in Holon.

Another fatality is an 83-year-old man with underlying health conditions who was hospitalized at the Mayanei Hayeshua hospital in Bnei Brak.

The third victim is an 89-year-old woman who was hospitalized at Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital in Jerusalem.

There were 5,240 coronavirus tests conducted in the past 24 hours. 59,493 people are currently under mandatory home quarantine over concerns they may have been exposed to the virus.

Israel’s government approved new emergency regulations to limit activity in order to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

The new guidelines are enforceable by police, include a near-total cessation of public transportation and a restriction on venturing further than 100 meters (roughly 300 feet) from one’s house except for the supply of food, medicine, essentials or medical reasons.
