5th coronavirus death in Israel as tally reaches 2,030 infected
BREAKING: A 83-year-old Israeli man with several underlying conditions died of coronavirus at Mayanei Hayeshua hospital, bringing the national death toll five.
The number of infected has risen to 2,030, of which 37 are in serious condition.
The government approved new emergency measures late on Tuesday night. The new restrictions will come into effect tonight at 20:00.
The new guidelines are enforceable by police, include a near-total cessation of public transportation and a restriction on venturing further than 100 meters (roughly 300 feet) from one’s house except for the supply of food, medicine, essentials or medical reasons.
An 87-year-old man died of coronavirus yesterday at Hadassah Ein Karem hospital. The man, a resident of Nofim geriatric center in Jerusalem, had several underlying conditions, including diabetes and dementia.
Hours earlier, a 67-year-old woman died from coronavirus at Wolfson hospital. The woman had serious pre-existing medical conditions.
On Friday evening Israel reported its first coronavirus fatality. Aryeh Even z”l, an 88-year-old Holocaust survivor.
