13 Israelis among passengers quarantined on coronavirus-hit cruise ship off Portugal

BREAKING: A group of 13 Israelis aged 65-75 is stuck on a cruise ship that sailed from Brazil and anchored in Portugal after health officials discovered a coronavirus patient on board.

The Israeli Health Ministry does not approve of flying the group back to Israel before checking if they are infected with the virus.

The government approved new emergency measures late on Tuesday night. The new restrictions will come into effect tonight at 20:00.

The new guidelines are enforceable by police, include a near-total cessation of public transportation and a restriction on venturing further than 100 meters (roughly 300 feet) from one’s house except for the supply of food, medicine, essentials or medical reasons.

A 76-year-old Israeli man has died of coronavirus today at Sheba hospital. According to the hospital, the man had serious pre-existing medical conditions. This is the fourth coronavirus death in Israel.
