Coronavirus: Everyone returning to Israel from any country to enter 14 days quarantine

BREAKING: Starting Monday evening, Israel will demand that Israeli citizens and foreigners entering the country or returning from abroad enter 14 days self-quarantine out of concern for the coronavirus.

“After a day of complex discussions, we made a decision: Everyone who comes to Israel from abroad will enter the 14-day isolation,” PM Netanyahu said in a statement.

“This decision will be valid for two weeks, at the same time we are making decisions to maintain the Israeli economy”, Netanyahu added.

According to reports, Israel will admit foreigners only if they can prove they have the means to self-quarantine.

The Foreign Ministry is preparing to evacuate families of diplomats serving at the Israeli embassy in Italy. The diplomats themselves will remain in their posts.

The Israeli embassy in Athens has been closed for two weeks after an envoy was found to have contracted the virus while traveling on the same plane with a group of Greek pilgrims, many of whom had been infected.

Three more Israelis were confirmed to have contracted the coronavirus, bringing the country’s tally to 42.
