Israeli fighter jets bomb terror targets in Gaza in response to massive barrages of rockets at civilians

HAPPENING NOW: Israeli fighter jets are bombing Islamic Jihad terror targets in Gaza in response to massive barrages of rockets fired tonight from Gaza towards civilians in southern Israel.

“We have started striking Islamic Jihad targets in Gaza. Details to follow”, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit tweeted.

Simultaneously, Israel bombed Islamic Jihad terror targets in Syria. Two Islamic Jihad terrorists were eliminated in the strikes near Damascus International Airport.

An explosion was heard in Beit Lahia in northern Gaza.

Initial reports of a Muslim terrorist eliminated after a strike against a launching terror cell. According to Arab reports, at least five other terrorists were injured in the strike.

The IDF spokesperson confirms the strike towards the Islamic Jihad rocket-launching terror cell in northern Gaza.

“The Israeli Air Force just targeted an Islamic Jihad terror squad preparing to fire rockets from Gaza at Israeli civilians”, the IDF said.

Minutes later, Israeli aircraft targeted two additional rocket cells east of Shajaiya and southeast of Rafah. Four Muslim terrorists were injured in the strikes.

The Islamic Jihad Mujahir terror camp in southeast Rafah was completely destroyed by several missiles. Casualties reported.

In total 17 missiles have targeted Muhajir terror camp in 9 different strikes.

Nine missiles hit Hittin terror camp in Khan Yunis in 7 different airstrikes.

Arabs report a strike targeting a motorcycle, with two Muslim terrorists injured.

Significant damage reported to a number of buildings in Rafah.

Underground facilities and the Islamic Jihad HQ in Rafah was reportedly targeted in the strikes. HQ of Khan Younis Brigade were targeted as well, along with a missile training facility.


Significant anti-aircraft fire is being reported towards IDF drones and helicopters currently over several areas of Gaza.

At least 30 rockets were fired by Muslim terrorists in Gaza towards southern Israel.

Code Red sirens sounded moments ago in Gavim, Sapir College, Sderot, Ibim, Nir Am, Mefalsim, Nir Am Shooting Range and Sa’ad.

Earlier today, the IDF deployed additional Iron Dome missile defense batteries in central and southern Israel as preparation for a possible escalation and rocket attacks following the elimination of two Islamic Jihad terrorists who were planting bombs near the security border fence.

“A day that started with another (2nd in 4 days) failed Islamic Jihad attack against Israel, with dozens of rockets fired at Israel from Gaza, ended with an IDF strike on key Islamic Jihad targets in Damascus. Whatever the night brings, we are ready”, IDF international spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Jonathan Conricus tweeted shortly after the retaliatory strikes.
