Germany: At least 8 killed in mass shooting attacks on shisha bars in Hanau
At least eight people were murdered in a shooting attack targeting two shisha bars in the Germany city of Hanau tonight.
Five people were seriously injured in the bloodbath.
Authorities said they were hunting for multiple suspects, who remain at large.
Local sources reported a gunman sprayed passers-by with bullets from a car.
Police said they are hunting “unknown offenders” who fled and that a “dark vehicle” was seen speeding away from the first shooting at the Midnight bar.
According to local reports, the attack took place in a hookah lounge in the center of the city. Witnesses reported hearing eight or nine shots and seeing at least one person lying on the ground.
The perpetrator or perpetrators then apparently went to another part of the city, where shots were fired in another hookah lounge.
Hanau is in southwestern Germany, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) east of Frankfurt. It has about 100,000 inhabitants and is located in Hesse state.
Police from neighboring Bavaria were deployed to help their local colleagues.
