“In response to the rocket launched from Gaza into Israel earlier tonight, we just targeted a number of Hamas military posts in Gaza. We hold Hamas responsible for all acts of terror emanating from Gaza,” the IDF said in a statement.
Among the targets, a training compound and terror infrastructures used by the Hamas terror group in southern Gaza. This target “impedes the Hamas terror organization’s future abilities”, the IDF said.
“The IDF views any kind of terror activity aimed at Israeli territory with great severity and is highly prepared for various scenarios”, the IDF added.
Code Red rocket alert sirens sounded earlier tonight in Nir Am, Sderot, and Ibim.
One rocket exploded in an open area in the Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council.
Defense Minister Naftali Bennett said after a briefing in the Gaza Division that the deadly action against Hamas terrorists will be very different from those that preceded it and that “no one will be immune”.
“Israel does not want a war with Hamas in Gaza, but we have a commitment to the security of the residents of southern Israel. The indiscriminate conduct of the Hamas leaders is bringing us towards deadly action against them”, Bennett said at the end of the briefing.
“We will not announce when or where. The action will be very different from its predecessors —No one will be immune.”
“Hamas faces the choice: to choose life and economic prosperity or to choose terror and pay an unbeatable price. Their actions will determine the outcome”, DM Bennett added.
