Afghanistan: 2 US soldiers killed, 2 injured in Taliban roadside attack targeting convoy
BREAKING: Two American soldiers were killed and two others wounded in a roadside bomb attack on a US Army convoy in southern Afghanistan.
“In accordance with US Department of Defense policy, the names of the service members killed in action will be withheld until 24 hours after notification of next of kin is complete,” The NATO mission said in a statement.
The Taliban earlier claimed responsibility for the attack.
Last year was the deadliest in five years for the US in Afghanistan. Twenty-three service members were killed in 2019 during operations in the country.
The attack was the latest in near-daily attacks by the Taliban terror group who now hold sway in almost half of Afghanistan, despite stepped-up efforts by the United States to find a negotiated end to the country’s 17-year war.
