Slovakia: 59 tombstones vandalized in Jewish cemetery dating back to the 18th century

Anti-Semitic vandals of unknown ethnicity have damaged dozens of gravestones at a Jewish cemetery in northern Slovakia.

“The Remember”, a Jewish group that works to preserve the site, said that 59 tombstones were knocked down and damaged at the cemetery in the northern town of Namestovo.

The cemetery that dates to the second half of the 18th century had been badly neglected for decades before The Remember group started its renovation in 2010.
