Report: Russian fighter jets thwarted Israeli strikes on Iranian weapons shipments in Syria

Russian fighter jets were scrambled towards an Israeli fighter jet in southern Syria after it intended to bomb Iranian weapons shipments at the T4 airbase earlier this month, the Russian-military blog Avia reported on Monday.
The report claims that Israeli fighter jets had to flee from the Russian Su-35 and at the same time Iran delivered unknown air defense systems to Syria.
The Iranian Bavar-373 air defense was deployed to the area, according to the Iranian Al-Masdar News.
Israel has bombed the T4 base several times in the past years, as Iran has been moving its assets to locations closer to the border with Iraq, specifically, the T4 Airbase located between Homs and Palmyra.
The reports at the Avia website follow other reports at the same site that often write sensational accounts about alleged Israeli actions in Syria.
