Incoming rocket sirens blare in Northern Israel

BREAKING: Incoming rocket sirens were heard shortly before 5 a.m. in towns of the Golan Heights near the border with Syria in northern Israel.

Four rockets fired from Syria towards northern Israel were intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system.

Code Red alerts sounded in  Dan, Dafna, Kfar Szold, Majdal Shams, Mas’ade, Neveh Ativ, Nimrod, Ein Quiniyye, Shear Yeshuv.

“Four launches were identified from Syria toward northern Israel. We can confirm that all 4 were intercepted in the sky by Israeli air defense systems”, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit tweeted.

Residents report hearing explosions.

According to Arab reports, the sirens followed Israeli strikes on Iranian targets near Damascus Airport.

Israeli military correspondents said that Israel was not responsible for the bombing in Damascus and that the Iranian rocket attack towards the Golan was in response to a “secret event” that occurred during the last 36 hours, which Israel, Iran and Syria are all aware of.

Following the attack, Defense Minister Naftali Bennett convened a high-level military consultation with IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kochavi and other officers.
