Israel wins World Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Abu Dhabi: Arab hosts stand in honor of Hatikvah anthem
Israeli athlete Alon Levayev (17), won the gold medal at the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Abu Dhabi.
For the first time in history, the Arabs hosts stood in honor of Israel’s national anthem, Hatikvah, that was played during the awards ceremony.
15,000 athletes from 69 countries participated this year in the World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Cup in Abu Dhabi, supported personally by the Supreme Prince and Commander in Chief of the United Arab Emirates National Army, Sheik Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Alon Levayev won the gold medal in under 18, under 55-kilo category. Alon defeated a UAE athlete in the finals.
