The war against Islamic Jihad in Gaza: Terror targets bombed, 26 Muslim terrorists eliminated
Twenty six Muslim terrorists were eliminated and dozens of terror targets bombed since Tuesday morning, as the Iranian-backed Islamic Jihad terror group continues to fire heavy rocket barrages at Israeli civilians.
The rocket barrages were triggered by the targeted elimination of Islamic Jihad commander Baha Abu al-Atta in a predawn Israeli airstrike in Gaza.
Israel’s Iron Dome defense system intercepted 90 percent of more than 400 rockets launched by Muslim terrorists from Gaza. The rockets were fired as far north as Tel Aviv, shutting schools in central and southern Israel and forcing one million children to stay at home.
Some of Islamic Jihad’s rockets misfire and end up hitting Gazan buildings instead of their intended targets: Israeli homes.
In response to the rockets, the IDF is targeting Islamic Jihad terrorists and terror infrastructure in Gaza.
The IDF targeted today at least four cells of Islamic Jihad terrorists who were on their way to launch rockets at Israeli civilians. According to Arab reports, a Muslim terrorist was eliminated in the strike. He has been identified as Khalid Farag, a senior Islamic Jihad commander.
In addition, the IDF opened fire on a group of Islamic Jihad terrorists who were preparing to launch anti-tank missiles and sniper fire at IDF soldiers operating along the Gaza border. According to Arab reports, two Muslim terrorists were eliminated.
Arabs report 26 Islamic Jihad terrorists eliminated in retaliatory strikes since yesterday.
The Islamic Jihad manufactures and stores its rockets in homes and apartment buildings in heavily populated areas across Gaza. Like Muslim terrorist Abu-Hadayid, who used his home to store rockets.
The IDF said Wednesday that the Air Force had targeted Islamic Jihad’s production of long-range rockets and warheads in Gaza, including its stores of raw materials.
“The terrorist organization is reliant on its rocket production system to renews its rocket inventory (and) consists of a number of sites throughout the Strip,” the IDF said.
“Islamic Jihad invests in infrastructure and resources for the production system, which is considered to be a crucial tool for reinforcing its capabilities.”
An IDF vessel targeted an Islamic Jihad naval force used for training for future terror attacks. The IDF also targeted a military compound for Jihad naval force training that also served as a weapons warehouse.
Israeli fighter jets continue to strike terror targets in multiple areas of Gaza including the central region and Al-Bureji, along with the north.
Islamic Jihad is still firing rockets at Israeli cities. Each red marker indicates another area that has come under attack since yesterday morning.
PM Netanyahu said at the start of the Cabinet meeting that the Islamic Jihad is starting to internalize the message: “They understand that we will continue to strike them without mercy. They understand that Israel is very strong and that our will is very great.”
“In the last 24 hours, we have destroyed important Islamic Jihad targets. We targeted terrorist cells that planned to launch rockets at the territory of the State of Israel, several of which were caught in the act”, Netanyahu said.
“Together we will continue to do everything that needs to be done to defend the security of the State of Israel and its citizens. Together we will be victorious,” PM Netanyahu concluded.
