White Helmets founder found murdered after ‘falling’ from his apartment in Istanbul
BREAKING: Former British military intelligence officer and Syria’s White Helmets founder James Le Mesurier was found murdered next to his home in central Istanbul’s Beyoglu district.
According to local sources, his body was found with cuts to his face, broken hands and feet after “falling” from his apartment.
“I know the flat well,” a former colleague said, “it’s not possible to ‘fall’ from that balcony”.
The White Helmets is a volunteer organization that has rescued thousands from under the rubble after Syrian regime and Russian strikes.
The organization has been the target of a fake news campaign by supporters of Assad and Russian-sponsored media, with false claims of close ties with terrorist activities and other conspiracy theories.
In July 2018, Israel helped to rescue 800 White Helmets and families from Syria and moved them to Jordan. The civilians were evacuated from the war zone in Southern Syria due to an immediate threat to their lives and were subsequently transferred to Jordan.
Israel said it had helped with the evacuation at the request of President Trump and other leaders – and there had been fears that the rescuers’ lives were at risk.
