Iraq: Rocket launched by Iranian proxy terrorists hits near US embassy in Baghdad

BREAKING: A rocket was fired towards the fortified Green Zone area of Baghdad, which houses foreign embassies, including the US Embassy, and Iraqi government buildings.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, and no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

On Monday, three Katyusha rockets hit near the al-Taji military base in Iraq where US forces are located. Al-Taji base is a joint base of Iraqi security forces and US-led coalition forces. The military base is located about 27 kilometers north of Baghdad.

Hashd al-Sha’bi terror group, an Iranian proxy in Iraq, was behind previous Katyusha attacks in the area.

The Katyusha multiple rocket launcher is an inexpensive type of rocket artillery that can deliver explosives to a target quicker than conventional artillery but is less accurate.
