Hamas celebrates 18th anniversary of the first launch of a rocket towards Sderot
Iranian-backed Izz ad-Din al-Qassam, Hamas terror group armed wing whose sole mission is to murder Jews, is celebrating the 18th anniversary of the first launch of a Qassam rocket towards Sderot on October 26, 2001, during the second Intifada.
According to al-Qassam Telegram channel, these are first Qassam rockets that were launched towards Israel.
Sderot is a western Negev city in southern Israel located less than a mile from the Gaza border.
Sderot has been a major target of rocket attacks from Gaza. Between 2001 and 2008, rockets attacks on the city killed 13 people, wounded dozens, caused millions of dollars in damage and profoundly disrupted daily life.
The city continues to be under attack occasionally.
An entire generation of Israelis grew up with feelings of despair and anxiety that is prevalent even during periods of relative calm.
