PA ‘governor’ of Jerusalem arrested once again for terror activities
Israeli security forces arrested the Palestinian Authority governor of Jerusalem Adnan Ghaith overnight after carrying out a raid at his home in the Silwan neighborhood of Jerusalem.
Shadi Mutour, secretary of the Fatah terror group, was also arrested during the counter-terrorism operation.
Pictures emerged on social media showing Border Police officers arresting Ghaith inside his home.
Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld told AFP that “two representatives were arrested by police and are being questioned”.
Ghaith was arrested and taken in for police questioning several times for illegally collaborating with the PA’s security services.
Ghaith and more than 30 Israeli-Muslim citizens from east Jerusalem who joined the ranks of the Palestinian Authority Security Services were arrested last year at the end of a covert investigation.
In October, he was detained for involvement in the PA’s arrest of American Arab Issam Akel, who was sentenced to life in prison with hard labor for selling land to Israeli Jews.
