PM Netanyahu reveals new secret nuclear warehouse in Iran
Israel has discovered a nuclear weapons development site in Iran, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed in a live statement.
The facility is located in a region of Iran called Abadeh.
Netanyahu showed satellite images of the site before July 2019 after which Iran – somehow – discovered that Israel had learned of the site and decided to destroy i
Samples taken by the UN nuclear watchdog at what PM Netanyahu called a “secret atomic warehouse” in Tehran last year, showed traces of uranium that Iran has yet to explain.
In a speech a year ago PM Netanyahu called on the IAEA to visit the site immediately, saying it had housed 15 kg (33 lb) of unspecified radioactive material that had since been removed.
The Iranians cleaned up the atomic warehouse in Tehran before the UN Inspectors arrived. It was a cover-up. But it didn’t work, Netanyahu said.
Turquzubad, the site has been razed and covered with gravel — “literally covered up,” he says.
Likewise, at Abadeh, once the Iranians realized that Israel knew what they were up to, they quickly moved to cover it up. “It’s incredible. Every time we reveal, they try to cover up their tracks,” Netanyahu said.
PM Netanyahu urged the international community to wake up and join US President Donald Trump’s sanctions on Tehran.
Iran recently started enriching uranium beyond a limit established in a 2015 nuclear agreement with world powers, a deal from which Trump withdrew. Trump has since intensified economic sanctions on Tehran, and tensions have escalated.
