Chief of Staff: ‘We do not let the calm fool us’ – The IDF is ready for war
IDF troops completed a largescale exercise simulating war in Gaza. The drill, which was named “Four Seasons”, was another step in the process of improving the IDF’s readiness for combat in Gaza.
In the drill, which has been the most significant since Operation Protective Edge, several units have been exercised, including eight divisional commanders, hundreds of reserve personnel, air force and naval forces.
The forces practiced key scenarios such as raiding the coastal area, evacuating wounded by helicopter, searching a community, evacuating residents and raiding a neighborhood in northern Gaza.
The IDF says it has learned the lessons from Operation Protective Edge in 2014, as well as the numerous rounds of airstrikes over the past years.
The IDF says it has the capabilities and intelligence to inflict severe damage to the terror groups operating in Gaza in a short amount of time should a war break out.
“We do not let the calm fool us. We will continue the preparation process with the assumption that war can break out any day within the Gaza Strip”, Chief of Staff, Major General Aviv Kochavi, said.
