Alert: Iran-backed sleeper cells 'ready to strike' the UK

Muslim terror cells supported by Iran are “ready to strike” targets in the UK, according to British intelligence sources, as tensions escalate over the seizure of a British oil tanker and the kidnapping of its crew by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard terror group.

Should open warfare erupt, MI5 and MI6 think Iran could call upon its network of terrorist sleeper cells to carry out atrocities, The Telegraph reported.

According to senior intelligence officers, the terror cells “across Europe” are run by terrorists linked to the Lebanese-based Hezbollah terror group.

An intelligence source said: “Iran uses proxies and they have control of a network of individuals linked to Hizbollah. That is the nature of the domestic threat Iran poses to the UK.”

Iran recently started enriching uranium beyond a limit established in a 2015 nuclear agreement with world powers, a deal from which Trump withdrew. Trump has since intensified economic sanctions on Tehran, and tensions have escalated.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard terrorists captured on Friday the British-flagged tanker Stena Impero and kidnapped 23 crew members. The tanker is detained at Iran’s southern port city of Bandar Abbas. The crew, consisting of 18 Indian nationals, while the rest are from Russia, Latvia, and the Philippines, remain on board the vessel.

Muslim terrorists with links to the Iran-backed terror group Hezbollah have been caught stashing tons of explosive materials at a secret bomb factory in London, it was revealed last month.

The plot was uncovered by MI5 and the Metropolitan Police in 2015 but the public was kept in the dark. It had also been hidden from MPs who were debating whether to fully ban Hezbollah.
