Israeli woman dies of injuries sustained while running for shelter during rocket attack
Rivka Jamil, an 89-year-old woman from the southern city of Ashkelon who was seriously wounded while running for shelter during a rocket attack launched by Muslim terrorists from Gaza, has passed away on Sunday.
Her death brings to 5 the total number of Israelis murdered in two days of non-stop barrages of rockets launched at civilians in southern Israel towns during the last escalation in May.
“Mrs. Jamil was admitted to the hospital after she fell while running for shelter during rocket fire … in May. She injured her back and while she was hospitalized other problems emerged, which caused her condition to deteriorate and sadly, she died,” the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon said in a statement.
Rivka was an IDF widow after her husband, Salem Jamil, was killed in Sinai in the 1973 Yom Kippur War. Rivka is survived by five children, 15 grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.
She will be buried at the Ashkelon cemetery at 6:00 p.m.
