7 wanted terrorists arrested overnight – Jerusalem riots enter 5th day
The IDF arrested 7 Muslim terrorists overnight in Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley, who were wanted for involvement in terrorism and violent disorders directed against civilians and security personnel.
The terrorists were turned over to security agencies for further investigation.
Violent riots broke out during a counter-terrorism operation in the Arab village of Maythaloon, in the Jenin area, with Muslim terrorists burning tires and throwing rocks and firebombs at IDF troops operating in the area.
IDF troops responded with crow dispersal methods. No damage or injuries reported.
Riots in several locations in East Jerusalem continued overnight and have now entered into their fifth day.
Riots broke out Thursday night in East Jerusalem when 22-year-old Muslim terrorist Mohammed Abid was shot and eliminated after shooting fireworks at security forces during a counter-terrorism operation in Issawyia.
The masked terrorist emerged in one of the alleys and set off the fireworks from close range posing a real and immediate danger to the policemen’s lives, the force said in a statement. One of the officers targeted the terrorist, neutralizing the danger.
Abid was a known Muslim terrorist who served a five-year sentence for plotting to carry out a shooting attack and was recently released from prison.
Over the past few weeks police have entered Issawiya on a nightly basis in a bid to track down Muslim terrorists members of a PLO terror cell believed to be at large in the neighborhood.
