Israel targeted Iranian positions in the Syrian Golan Heights
Syrian state media reported early Wednesday that Israel fired a number of missiles on Tal al-Hara, a strategic hill overlooking the Golan Heights. Syrian Air Defenses intercepted some of the missiles, according to the report.
The missile attack resulted only in damage and Israel then conducted an “electronic war” in which radars were subjected to interference, SANA added.
The missiles were launched from IDF positions west of Mount Hermon.
Last week Israeli fighter jets bombed an Iranian ammunition depot as well as several other buildings and equipment at the T4 military airbase in Homs in retaliation for a rocket fired toward the Golan.
Israeli intelligence assessments recently warned that Iran and the Lebanon-based terror group Hezbollah may initiate incidents that would lead to an escalation in the Golan Heights, as part of Tehran’s efforts to combat US sanctions and Israeli strikes against Iranian forces in Syria.
