Watch – Egypt: Muslim terrorists eliminated during counter-terrorism raids in Sinai
Egypt says security forces have eliminated four Muslim terrorists in a shootout with police south of the Mediterranean city of el-Arish in northern Sinai on Saturday. In addition, the police seized automatic rifles, bombs, and explosive belts.
According to local sources, Israeli fighter jets and drones, as well as Egyptian jets were conducting counter-terrorism operations in north Sinai over the weekend.
The Interior Ministry says the four ISIS terrorists were involved in a terror attack earlier this week on a police checkpoint in northern Sinai that left eight policemen dead. The terror attack took place Wednesday morning as Muslims in the city of al-Arish were holding prayers marking the holiday of Eid al-Fitr, which follows the Jihad month of Ramadan.
ISIS’s news agency published pictures of ISIS terrorists in Sinai with portable surface-to-air missiles.
Hundreds of Muslim terrorists have been eliminated by the Egyptian army, backed by police and other security forces since it launched a wide-scale operation in February 2018 aimed at eradicating terrorists, mostly members of ISIS or related Muslim terror groups in the Sinai peninsula. The operation is still ongoing.
