Watch - PA official shares 1939 clip of ‘Palestinian’ Maccabi Tel Aviv Jewish soccer players

Saeb Erekat, secretary general of the Palestine Liberation Organization’s (PLO) terror group Executive Committee,  shared a video of a soccer match on Twitter Friday, in an attempt to counter claims that the Palestinians never had a country before Israel was established in 1948,  only to be told it was actually a Jewish team playing before Israel’s foundation.

“Saeb, have you seen the Star of David on their shirts right at the beginning of the video? The entire team was Jewish and the commentator refers to them as such. The term “Palestinians” was used then to describe JEWS”, Ofir Gendelman, PM Netanyahu’s spokesperson for the Arab media tweeted.

A contemporary news report pointed out that the Palestine team played in blue and white — the colors that eventually became those of the flag of Israel.

The names of the Palestine players are Jewish names, including captain Avraham Reznick, Jerry Beit-Halevi, and Binyamin Mizrahi.
