Egypt: At least 10 policemen killed by Muslim terrorists in Sinai – Major attack underway
Happening Now: Egyptian security officials say Muslim terrorists attacked a checkpoint in the northern part of the Sinai Peninsula, killing at least 10 policemen.
A major attack on multiple checkpoints in northern Sinai is currently underway. Egyptian forces are responding and dealing with the terrorists.
Officials say the ISIS-linked terrorists attacked a checkpoint, seized an armored vehicle to make their getaway but a warplane chased them in the desert, eliminating at least five.
Two officers and eight conscripts were killed. No terror group immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks.
The terror attacks took place as Muslims in the city of al-Arish were holding prayers marking the holiday of Eid al-Fitr, which follows the Jihad month of Ramadan, on Wednesday morning.
Hundreds of Muslim terrorists have been eliminated by the Egyptian army, backed by police and other security forces since it launched a wide-scale operation in February 2018 aimed at eradicating terrorists, mostly members of ISIS or related Muslim terror groups in the Sinai peninsula. The operation is still ongoing.
