Syria: Israeli fighter jets bombed Iranian T4 airbase in Homs
BREAKING: Several powerful explosions heard and a fire started at the T4 military airbase in the Syrian province of Homs.
An ammunition depot, as well as several other buildings and equipment, were damaged after the attack, Syrian Arab News Agency reported, quoting a military source.
Local media claims at least five killed in the strikes.
Syrian air defense reportedly managed to shoot down two missiles.
Israel has bombed the T4 base several times in the past years, as Iran has been moving its assets to locations closer to the border with Iraq, specifically, the T4 Airbase located between Homs and Palmyra.
Yesterday, a Fars Air jumbo jet returned to Iran from a possible arms delivery flight at T4.
The attack comes a day after three Iranian-sponsored Syrian soldiers were eliminated and seven wounded in Israeli strikes, hours after two rockets were fired from Syria at northern Israel.
“Yesterday I held security consultations in wake of the firing at the Golan Heights in which I instructed the IDF to take strong action. We will not tolerate firing at our territory and will respond with great force to any aggression against us. This has been my consistent policy and this is what we will continue to do for the security of Israel,” PM Netanyahu said.
