3 Israelis wounded, homes hit, over 350 rockets fired by Muslim terrorists from Gaza
Three Israeli civilians were seriously wounded Saturday during a massive rocket barrage launched by Muslim terrorists from Gaza at the south and central Israel.
Rockets have been continually launched from Gaza throughout Saturday, with long-range missiles targeting communities in Israel’s Shfela region.
Code Red sirens heard for the first time today in the city of Beer Sheva, 41 km east to Gaza
Reports of an impact in Beer Sheva and a direct hit reported onto a Bedouin community near Beer Sheva.
Code red sirens continue going off through regional councils in Israel’s south and center.
An 80-year-old woman from Kiryat Gat was critically wounded when a rocket hit the south-eastern city.
MDA says the woman has been taken to Barzilai Hospital in critical condition after significant trauma to her head due to shrapnel.
Her condition is reportedly currently deteriorating and she is fighting for her life.
In Ashkelon, a 49-year-old man was moderately hurt from shrapnel wounds to the hands and legs.
Also in Ashkelon, a 35-year-old man was moderately hurt when a rocket hit a home in the southern city.
The Magen David Adom rescue service said that he had been hit in the upper body and had been taken to Barzilai Hospital. At least 20 other people have been treated for shock.
Earlier Saturday rocket hit a home in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council. The home’s dwellers ran for their shelter and none were hurt.
Buildings were damaged in the city of Sderot and in several Gaza border communities.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened security consultations with the IDF chief of staff and the head of the National Security Council.
The IDF says it is widening its air strikes on terror targets in Gaza in response to massive rocket fire.
The IDF also says it has destroyed a terror tunnel dug by the Islamic Jihad terror group in Rafah, on the Gaza-Egypt border.
According to the IDF, the tunnel was intended to be used to carry out a terror attack in Israel.
The IDF says it has carried out some 120 strikes in Gaza in response to the rocket attacks.
The Iranian-backed Islamic Jihad terror group released a video threatening rocket attacks on the nuclear reactor in Dimona and other sensitive sites in Israel.
In addition to the Dimona reactor, the video also shows footage of the Ben Gurion Airport, the Ashdod port, and refineries in the northern city of Haifa.
The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories announced the closure of the fishing zone off Gaza and the closure of the Erez and Kerem Shalom border crossings in response to the rocket attacks.
IDF spokesman Ronen Manelis says the military has air defense systems in place in case of rocket fire from the Gaza Strip toward the Tel Aviv metropolitan area.
He says the IDF is prepared for the fighting to last a few days and will call up some reservists from intelligence and air defense units, as well as the Home Front Command.
The Home Front Command issued new instructions for residents of southern Israel:
● Mass gatherings only up to 300 people
● Agricultural works are forbidden
● Open markets are forbidden
●Schools in Southern Israel to remain closed tomorrow.
