Watch – Thousands arrived at the Kotel for Priestly Blessing – High security in Jerusalem
Israeli security forces were on high alert in Jerusalem’s Old City as tens of thousands of Jewish worshipers attended the traditional Passover Priestly Blessing (Birkat HaCohanim) ceremony at the Western Wall.
The traditional benediction sees male descendants of the Cohanim priestly caste bless congregations during daily morning prayers.
Security was increased around Judea-Samaria and Jerusalem ahead of Passover in an effort to prevent terror attacks.
The closure, a routine counter-terrorism procedure during Israeli and Jewish holidays, is expected to last until April 27.
The passage from Judea and Samaria into others parts of Israel and from Gaza into Israel is only permitted for humanitarian, medical and exceptional cases, subject to the approval of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories.
