“Expel the Jew, Heil Hitler”: Jewish cemetery vandalized in Massachusetts
59 headstones at a Jewish cemetery in Massachusetts were vandalized with anti-Semitic salutes and symbols.
The gravestones at the Hebrew Cemetery were marked with swastikas and derogatory phrases in black marker. In addition, some gravestones were pushed over.
“Expel the Jew”, “Hitler was right”, “Kike”, “Jew Bastard”, “Ethnic cleansing”, “Heil Hitler” and other Hitler salutes were among the anti-Semitic slurs.
Sgt. Thomas Mauretti, with the Fall River Police Department’s major crimes division, confirmed the graffiti found at Hebrew Cemetery over the weekend, including phrases such “Oy vey! This is MAGA country.”
Investigators said the damage was first discovered by a cemetery maintenance worker. Police are investigating the vandalism as a hate crime with the FBI’s assistance.
No arrests have been made. Rewards totaling $12,500 are being offered for information that leads to an arrest, including $10,000 given anonymously to Congregation Adas Israel, a city synagogue.
