27 rockets fired from Gaza at southern Israel. 1 of the rockets exploded in a kindergarten
A barrage of 27 rockets were fired by Muslim terrorists in Gaza at Israeli towns in southern Israel, with at least two exploding inside the communities, one in a kindergarten yard.
No one was injured in the continuous barrage which began at 6:59am, triggering 24 consecutive Code Red alert sirens to blare throughout the region. The Iron Dome anti-missile system intercepted most of them.
The IDF instructed local residents to remain in safe spaces and were told shortly after they could leave their bomb shelters and return to normality.
At 8 am incoming sirens were triggered for a second time in the Eshkol region.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage, local government officials said.
According to the IDF, the majority of the mortar shells were intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system.
“A barrage of 27 mortar shells were launched towards several sites in Israeli territory. Most of the launches were intercepted by the IDF’s Iron Dome aerial defense system,” the IDF said in a statement.
Arab media reported that Israeli Air Force jets bombed several targets in Gaza in retaliation for the rocket fire.
