9/11 – Israel will never forget
We Remember – On this day 18 years ago, on September 11, 2001, unimaginable horror struck America. Israel stands by the United States of America in Jerusalem with a memorial tribute to the nearly 3,000 victims of terrorism.
Every year on the anniversary of 9/11, Israelis gather to honor the memories of those murdered at the hands of suicidal jihadists.
The annual memorial ceremony is taking place at the 9/11 Living Memorial in the Arazim Valley in Jerusalem’s Ramot neighborhood, with US and Israeli law enforcement officers present.
The commemoration of this day in Israel began with the lighting of two columns of light symbolizing the Twin Towers at Israel’s memorial in Jerusalem, where the names of all of 9/11 victims are listed.
The 9/11 Living Memorial is the largest memorial site commemorating the 9/11 terror victims outside of the United States. Created by Israeli artist Eliezer Weishoff and KKL-JNF landscape architect Yechiel Cohen, the 30-foot-high bronze sculpture features an American flag folded in the shape of a memorial flame and a metal shard from the ruins of the Twin Towers embedded in the base.
