President Trump fired Tillerson as Secretary of State over Iran deal disagreement

President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he dismissed Rex Tillerson as secretary of state at least in part over a disagreement on how best to proceed with the Iran deal.

“We got along actually quite well, but we disagreed on things,” Trump said as he boarded the Marine One presidential helicopter en route to view prototypes for his proposed border wall.

“When you look at the Iran deal, I thought it was terrible. He thought it was okay. I wanted to either break it or do something, he felt a little differently,” Trump said.

“So we were not really thinking the same. With Mike, Mike Pompeo, we have a very similar thought process. I think it’s going to go very well. Rex is a very good man. I like Rex a lot. I really appreciate his commitment to service and I’ll be speaking to Rex over a long period of time,” Trump said.

President Donald Trump is required under the Iran deal to waive sanctions against Tehran again in May, which the administration said in January it had done for the last time. With Pompeo at the helm of the State Department, some believe that threat could easily become a reality.

Trump wants an agreement with Britain, France and Germany – known as the “E3” – that will demand an end to Iran’s ballistic missile testing, which are not addressed by the nuclear deal; unrestricted access for UN nuclear inspectors to Iran’s military sites, which have in the past hosted nuclear weapons experimentation; and permanent caps on Iran’s enrichment of fissile material, which in the current deal sunset within 10 to 15 years.

So far, European powers have expressed a willingness to engage on all of Trump’s concerns – but remain adamant that the 2015 nuclear agreement must stay in place in its current form.

  1. Iran, is potentially a bigger threat to the World, than fat Kim is in North Korea.! Kim mostly wants respect, a place in World affairs & trade advantages. North Korea has no extremist religion, what it seeks; “could be made available”.
If Iran reaches the capacity, for a long range Nuclear strike ; their “ideology” will NOT be, so easily appeased..!!
Trump is 100% correct on this issue – the need for a better deal, should be obvious to anyone with foresight……
