The Israel Air Force bombed three Hamas terror targets in Gaza, which serve as training and storage sites for weapons, in retaliation for the rocket fire at Southern Israel, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said in a statement.
“The State of Israel will not allow any attempts to harm its citizens and will continue to protect them and its sovereignty in a sharp and decisive manner.”
“The Hamas terrorist organization, which controls Gaza, leads the residents of Gaza to a life of poverty, destruction and despair, and is fully responsible for the situation,” the statement said.
Three consecutive Code Red Alerts were sounded Wednesday evening in the southern city of Sderot and the Negev Regional Council near Gaza, a day after rocket fire was aimed at Hof Ashkelon Regional Council.
Four Israelis were injured in the rocket attack. Two children and one women are being treated for anxiety. One man was injured in the leg while running to the bomb shelter.
It is the third day straight that quiet has been interrupted in Israeli towns and cities bordering Gaza.
Two rockets were shot down by the Iron Dome defense system deployed in the area, as residents ran to bomb shelters, not for the first time this week when the first siren rang out at 8:34pm.
Shortly after, a third rocket landed and exploded open space in the Eshkol Regional Council before any Code Red Alert Siren was sounded.
It later emerged that another rocket launched from Gaza landed in an UNRWA school in Beit Hanoun the strip, causing damage to one of the classrooms.
