IDF forces arrested a top terrorist of the Islamic Jihad terror group in Judea and Samaria early Monday morning.
The Shin Bet confirmed that the Muslim terrorist Tariq Qa’adan was picked up by the Israel Defense Forces in Arrabeh, southwest of Jenin.
In addition the IDF arrested another 13 Muslim terrorists overnight in Judea and Samaria, who were wanted for involvement in lone wolf terror attacks and violent disorders directed against civilians and security personnel.
An M16 rifle was seized in an Arab village in the Gush Etzion area.
Qa’adan’s arrest came two days after Israel released a stern warning to the Islamic Jihad terror group that it was aware the terror group is planning to carry out a terror attack in retaliation to the IDF’s demolition of one of its terror tunnels that crossed from Gaza into Israeli territory last month.
The Israeli army made effective use of technological advances to find and destroy a terror tunnel running under the border with Hamas-ruled Gaza in October.
The tunnel was already relatively deep into Israel’s sovereign territory, and was believed to be heading toward the nearby Israeli town of Kissufim.
Additional Iron Dome batteries were deployed to central Israel and Jerusalem area over Islamic Jihad terror group threats.
