Hamas will relinquish control over Gaza’s border crossings to the Palestinian Authority for the first time in a decade Wednesday.
The three crossings that will be taken over by the PA are Erez, Kerem Shalom and Rafah.
The move is part of several stages in the reconciliation deal recently signed by the PA and Hamas.
The Rafah crossing is expected to reopen in one month.
This morning ceremonies will mark the symbolic transfer of the Rafah and Kerem Shalom crossings from Hamas to the Palestinian Authority
This afternoon a similar ceremony will be held at the Beit Hanoun crossing.
In two weeks the PA will officially and effectively take control.
These images, coming after 10 years of Hamas rule, symbolize the terror group’s declaration that it can no longer govern Gaza on its own.
