Rocket from Sinai lands in southern Israel immediately after border sealed

Israel on Monday sealed its border crossing into Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula following security assessments indicating an immediate threat to tourists posed by jihadists in the region.

The announcement was followed almost immediately by the firing of a rocket from the Sinai Peninsula into Israeli territory.

A Code Red alert was sounded in the Eshkol region near the Gaza border on Monday morning.

One rocket was identified as landing in an open field in the Eshkol Regional Council.

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the rocket fired from the Sinai Peninsula into Israel. Amaq, the terrorist organization’s news agency, posted that it was responsible for firing a Grad rocket.
